PROKEH Biofertilizer Research Team organizes inception meeting, sensitizes stakeholders on the project

  • The inception meeting held on 10 August, 2023 was called to sensitize the University community about the PROKEH project funded by TETFund under the 2021 NRF Grant, and for the team to be inaugurated by the acting Vice-Chancellor.
  • The team was inaugurated by the acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. R.O.R. Kalilu, who was represented by the Chairman of Committee of Provosts and Deans, Prof. A.T.J. Ogunkunle.
  • Other stakeholders such as the Bursar (represented by Mr. Afolabi), acting Director of Audit, Mr. A.A. Ismaheel, Director of LAUCRID, Prof. T.A. Adedosu, Deputy-Dean of Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, Prof. M. Abdulhamed, Heads of Departments in the faculty and other seasoned scholars from faculties of Pure and Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Food and Consumer Sciences, as well as Agricultural Sciences attended the meeting.
  • Following the presentation of the research focus by the team lead, Prof. A. Lateef, speakers in their various remarks commended the team on the organization of the meeting for the critical stakeholders in the University. The meeting noted the following:
  1. That the research was progressing as captured in the plan of work with isolation of new keratinolytic bacteria, preparation of project sites and presentation of preliminary PROKEH biofertilizer.
  2. That the group should not lose focus on the commercialization of the biofertilizer product for the benefits of all the stakeholders in the project.
  3. Prof. G.O. Kolawole of Department of Crop Production and Soil Science sought to collaborate with the team on nutrient delivery by PROKEH and PROKEH-CaNANO in soil.
